Students to Study Five-Year Bachelor, Master Degree

1. To assist students with outstanding grades in this school’s bachelor’s class to study master’s program courses in advance, pre-plan professional and academic research direction, take the pursuit of five-year bachelor, master’s degree in order to achieve the purpose of shortening the length of schooling. Hereby based on “Implementation Guidelines for Tunghai University Students to Study Five-Year Bachelor, Master Degree”, enact this Execution Guidelines.

2. Bachelor program students whose overall average semester grade before the first semester of junior (inclusive), is before forty percent (inclusive) of students in the same year, may apply to the Department after second semester of junior begins, according to the provisions of the application procedures. The department selection committee will review;Admission list shall be adopted by department affairs meeting and after approval by Dean of Academic Affairs by the administrative procedure it is published.

3. Students admitted to pursue five-year bachelor, master’s degree (hereinafter referred to as matriculated students) may, based on school and the department’s regulations, take elective courses in master’s program in advance, have both qualifications of bachelor’s degree candidates and master classes preparatory postgraduate students.

4. Matriculated students may attend master’s program courses in this department from the first semester of the fourth year, pass criteria is the same as students of master classes.

5. Matriculated students should participate in the fair entrance screening or exam with general examinees in entrance examination of master classes. They shall pass and be admitted via screening or examination before they qualify for the master’s program students.

6. The Department will assist matriculated students in selecting advisor. The advisor counsels course selection and assists to set research topics, so that the students can obtain bachelor and master’s degree in the department within five years. Advisor shall evaluate matriculated students under guidance, and submit assessment reports to the department for evaluation before the master’s program eligibility is attained at the end of each semester.

7. If matriculated students have acquired master classes subjects credits in bachelor program, of which score amounts to seventy, and the credits are not listed in the college graduation credits, graduation credits of master’s program can be waived by discretion. Waived credits are limited to three-quarter of graduation credits (excluding thesis credits) regulated by master program.

8. Master class credit waiver application shall be handled prior to the deadline for adding and dropping in the semester of enrollment. The application to tackle credit waiver is limited to once.

9. When matriculated students comply with the provisions of bachelor’s degree graduation of the department, the department should report to the university to issue bachelor’s degree certificates. After matriculated students come by bachelor’s degree certificates of the department and are in compliance with the provisions of the graduation for a master’s degree, it should be reported to the university to issue master’s degree certificates.

10. This guideline comes into force after adopted by the department affairs meeting, and sent to college affairs meeting for future reference.
